Is there a positive case at Merrylands RSL Club and when did the person visit the club?

There was one person who tested positive to COVID-19 and visited the Club last Monday 28 December, 4pm – 6pm. At this stage, no other cases have emerged that is related to our venue.

I was in the Club during that time period, what do I need to do now?

As per NSW Health’s advice, anyone who attended the following sections of the Merrylands RSL at the listed times below should immediately get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative result, and continue to monitor for symptoms and test again if any symptoms develop:

– Merrylands RSL (Ariah Room), 8/12 Miller St: Monday 28 December, 4pm – 4.55pm

– Merrylands RSL (Smoking Gaming Area), 8/12 Miller St: Monday 28 December, 4.55pm – 5.15pm

– Merrylands RSL (Sports Lounge), 8/12 Miller St: Monday 28 December, 5.15pm – 6pm

Anyone who attended any other area of the Club at the listed time below should monitor for symptoms and if they appear, isolate and get tested until you receive a negative result:

– Merrylands RSL (all other areas), 8/12 Miller St, Merrylands: Monday 28 December, 4pm – 6pm

I was at the club before/after the advised date/period, what should I do?

You’re not affected and you don’t need to do anything at this stage. We would encourage everyone to always monitor for symptoms as a precautionary measure though and get tested if they appear.

How can I confirm if I was at the Club during the time period?

You can contact us at the club for further information on 88687777 or at enquiries@mrsl.com.au

Why didn’t your COVID-19 entry procedures/requirements identify the positive case when they entered the Club?

The Club has a thermal camera which checks the temperature of every patron entering the venue. Although a COVID-19 positive case will often present with a high temperature, many COVID-19 cases are asymptomatic, which means they do not display any symptoms.

Our entry procedures also include mandatory hand sanitising which reduces the potential risk of virus spread. We also keep a record of all patrons entering the club to ensure accurate contact tracing.

Will it be safe to visit the Club?

As a precautionary measure the Club has completed a thorough deep clean before reopening and all MRSL staff and contractors have been tested negative to COVID-19. A deep clean involves sanitisation of all areas and surfaces within the club using specialised contractors and cleaning chemicals that kill any trace of COVID-19.

In addition to the above the Club also completes disinfectant fogging every day along with other stringent and regular cleaning.

Our COVIDSafe measures and procedures are designed to reduce the risk of transmission within the Club and will continue to be in place.

In line with the public health order, gaming patrons are required to wear face masks in all indoor gaming areas. Staff and contractors wear masks at all times.

We are doing our best to keep the Club a safe place for all, and we appreciate your cooperation.

What promotions and activities will be running once the Club reopens?

All of our scheduled promotions and activities will recommence as normal from re opening on Friday the 8th January.
