Since September last year, Merrylands RSL has been contributing to the Buy a Bale project through staff wage deductions, silent auctions and bar boxes.

The donation drive was initiated to raise as much funding as we could to ensure the sustainability of our great country and with the help of our Umina Club we managed to raise an outstanding sum of $30,000.

Recently we had a visit from Rural Aid General Manager Wayne Thomson. Mr Thomson was very humbled by our donation and went on to say “Farmers across our parched outback continue to be overwhelmed by the support from their city cousins. Merrylands RSL staff have made a significant donation that will literally change the lives of the farmers it touches. The thought that someone cares is very touching, and means that no one has to stand alone. We all need to get through this together,

“Merrylands RSL, it’s staff, families and members, have shown that they care. They have made a difference in the lives of farmers, their families and communities.”

Our donation did not stop there!!. The MRSL Board of Directors were so proud of the funds that the MRSL staff & members were able to contribute that they unanimously matched the offer.… therefore our efforts far exceeded expectations reaching a massive $60,000. If you would like to help our struggling Aussie farmers please go to and donate.
