Anzac Day 2019

YOUNG PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY ENSURE ANZAC SPIRIT LIVES ON

Merrylands RSL Club and sub-Branch are proud to host Anzac Day commemorations annually on the 25th of April. Every year thousands of Australians are joined together through the Dawn Service to pay tribute to and remember those who have served. In 2019 it was no different, with an estimated 2,000 people in attendance at Charles Mance Reserve, Merrylands. But the overwhelming presence from the younger generation was something to be proud of as our nation continues to grow into a multicultural and younger generation. Merrylands RSL sub-Branch President, Mr Rob Grimley, said “As the numbers of our older veterans are falling, we can feel assured that the young people of the community will continue to preserve the legacy forged by our armed forces and ensure the spirit of the Anzac’s is not forgotten.”

As we continue to commemorate this special day, the Club and sub-Branch will anticipate that the engagement from the local community and younger generation will continue to grow. It is the largest date in our calendar each year and are pleased to see that the importance is shared within our community.
