Guildford West Public School Unveils Memorial

The children of Guildford West Public School know the importance of Anzac and Remembrance Day to commemorate Australia’s fallen war heroes. As part of a school project led by teacher Mr Mark Robinson, the students designed and erected a memorial garden in 2017 with the assistance of Staff from Fairfield Bunnings. The memorial was then completed with an erected diamond cut sand stone that was supplied Pacific Quarrying and Dominello Stonemasons as a joint
venture between the Merrylands RSL Sub Branch and Club Ltd.

An official unveiling took place on 10th November 2017 at 10.30 am during the School’s Remembrance Day ceremony, where MRSL Sub Branch President, Mr Rob Grimley, Sub Branch Secretary, Mr Frank Vella and MRSL Club CEO, Mr Bryn Miller, attended to honour this wonderful venture. Students from all classes made poppies which they laid during the ceremony gracefully.

Mr Miller said he is overwhelmingly pleased that “Guildford West Public School has taken on a role in remembrance and educating the younger generation on the significance of Australia’s war history. The Club looks forward to many more commemorative services at your Memorial Garden.”
